Review of Arami Essentials Onyx Polish and Glow Scrub + Tips for Acne-Prone Skin

What’s popping guys? I hope you’re doing great. In this post, I’ll be reviewing some products I got from Arami Essentials. Before I get into it, I’ll give you an insight into what led me to do this review. The search for skin care products (especially a body cream and soap that will naturally fade out sunburn and get my caramel complexion glowing) has not been an easy one for me. Some people pretty much didn’t have to do a “search” (luckily for them), before discovering their ‘Skin’s Soulmate’ as I’d like to call it. Unfortunately, I don’t fall in that category, plus having a sensitive skin makes it more frustrating.

I’ve experimented with tons of skin care products and they either didn’t work for my skin or my skin rejected them. The last set of skin care products I used kissed my skin nicely (they also helped even-tone my skin although they didn’t really help with acne and blemishes) but they aren’t readily available so I had to move on. Lucky for me, I tried an organic cream by a Nigerian brand that came highly recommended which seems to be compatible with my skin although I reacted to their black soap (sensitive skin struggles *sigh*). So I was back to hunting for a skin-popping non-allergic soap. That’s when I came across Arami Essentials and decided to give it a try. After carefully scrutinizing their products on their website and making enquiries, I settled for the Onyx Polish Black Soap and the Glow Scrub.

The ultimate skin goal for me is healthy, acne-free, even-toned skin with a GLOW.

REVIEW OF ARAMI ESSENTIALS ONYX POLISH  & BODY SCRUB

INTRODUCTION

Arami Essentials is a Nigerian Skin/Hair care brand that makes use of Nigerian sourced ingredients to provide your skin the best care it deserves with zero side effects.

FEATURES

USES

Onyx Polish

It can be used as a daily cleanser for skin and hair.

Glow Scrub

It is a deep exfoliating body scrub that is also suitable for the face.

CLAIMS

Onyx Polish

Fights wrinkles.

Fights acne.

Brightens skin.

Glow Scrub

Removes dead skin cells.

Continuous skin renewal.

Softens and hydrates skin.

Brightens skin.

Fights wrinkles and  scars.

PACKAGING

Both products come in a 250ml container. I love the minimalist look of their labels. I think their choice of container is really cute. I especially love the silver cover, it just tops up the entire look.

P.S: I’m currently undergoing my internship programme in Owo, Ondo State so it was delivered from Lagos thus I had additional layers to my package. I like how they wrapped their products in break-proof nylons before placing it in the carton. I also noticed the covers were clasped real tight because I struggled with it for a bit (I suspect it was because of the long distance delivery. If so, that is very meticulous of them).

SMELL

Onyx Polish

The first thing I noticed when I opened it was the smell. It has this subtle refreshing lemony smell. Most black soaps I’ve used usually have this peculiar black soap smell, you know that smell right? With that in mind, I was pleasantly surprised with the smell.

Glow Scrub

The sugar scrub has an obvious lemony smell that I like. There’s also a subtle smell of pure honey and shea oil (I’m sensitive to smell and familiar with these stuff).

TEXTURE/CONSISTENCY

Onyx Polish

The Onyx polish is really soft (compared to other black soaps I’ve used) and easy to use. I like that it comes in a semi-solid/molten form instead of a bar.

Glow Scrub

It has a gentle, coarse feel to it which is a requirement for a scrub. The best part for me, is that it melts into your skin while scrubbing instead of gliding over it…

INGREDIENTS

Onyx Polish

Glow Scrub

AFTERMATH FEEL

Onyx Polish

The Onyx polish has this creamy texture during application which may be responsible for its moisturizing effect after use unlike other black soaps I have used that dry up my skin.

Glow Scrub

The Glow Scrub leaves your skin feeling so pampered. It’s a feeling I can’t perfectly explain but I’ll try. It has this richly moisturizing feel and gives your skin a glow. I’m not even exaggerating, the first time I used it, I was in awe. I looked into the mirror and was like “Girllllll, is that really you?!! Just look at that glow…”

PRICE

Onyx Polish: 2,800 NgN

Glow Scrub: 4,200 NgN

ACCESSIBILITY

You can purchase it from the Arami Essentials website.

SPECIAL NOTE TO THOSE WITH OILY, ACNE-PRONE SKIN

Prior to using Arami Essentials, I tried loads of other products to help treat my acne and care for my oily skin but I haven’t been quite impressed with the results. This is one of the reasons I decided to give Arami Essentials a try and within a week of using the Onyx Polish, there was significant improvement. Not only did it dry my acne, I could tell it was preventing new ones from appearing (because I didn’t have the usual breakout during my period).

In addition, I also use the Onyx Polish as a face mask before bath. I dampen my face a bit and apply the soap all over and leave it on for about 5minutes (I’d recommend that you pay attention to how long your skin can tolerate it for sensitive skin). I wash off while taking my bath and I’ve come to notice using it this way works better for my acne.

PROS

1. Both products can be used for all skin types including oily, acne-prone skin.

2. It has no side effects.

3. The fact that it’s made of natural ingredients is a plus for me.

4. It can be used for both face and body.

CONS

1. There aren’t distributors across the country.

2. The Onyx Polish isn’t suitable for hypersensitive skin.

3. It doesn’t do much to even-tone your skin if that’s what you’re looking for.

CONCLUSION

I’ve been consistently using these products for over two months and I’m very pleased with the results so far especially in the acne department (for which I’ll give credit to the Onyx Polish). It’s also been clearing the blemishes I’ve had on my face from acne (credit goes to both the Onyx Polish and Glow Scrub). It does all of the things it claims except for the “fights wrinkles” part which I’m not in the best position to ascertain *lol*. I look forward to trying other products by Arami Essentials.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. I’d recommend both products to anyone who wants a flawless, healthy-looking and glowing skin.

2. I’d recommend both products for all skin types and for both genders.

3. I’d highly recommend these products to anyone who’s battling with acne or has an acne-prone skin.

Side Note: If you have “sensitive” skin like mine and feel slight tingling sensation on the first few days of using the Onyx Polish, give your skin a few days to get used to it before giving up.

RATING

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️| 4/5

P.S: The pictures indicate that I’ve used the products halfway because I lost the pictures I took when I first got the products. The label also got stained during the delivery.

I’d like to add that how healthy-looking your skin is also depends on what you eat and drink.
