This is the season for super dry skin and chapped lips. Yeah, the remedy for this is to moisturize, exfoliate and moisturize some more. Is there such a thing as too much moisturizing? I don’t think so.
Not only does your skin deserve some exfoliating+moisturizing tender-love-and-care, so do your lips, especially with the weather that comes with this season. What do you do when you’re constantly moisturizing yet develop chapped lips that have epidermal layers sticking out when you rub your finger against them? Moisturize some more? Nah. I’ll tell you what your lips are yearning for…
Exfoliation! Your lips also need to be exfoliated, for the same reasons as your skin does. Both in this season and always. You can read my post on DIY; Turmeric Exfoliating Face Scrub to learn more about exfoliation. There are quite a number of lips exfoliating scrubs in the market but I like to make my own.
Of course I’m gonna share this DIY with you. Finally what you’ve been waiting for right? Ha ha. I got you always *winks*. This lips scrub has exfoliation, moisturizing and healing properties in one. Yass!!! Let’s get into it, shall we? (Why am I even asking when that’s all you’re here for? But there will be no cute picture of my face covered in some edible stuff, lips is all you get this time *ha ha*).
Ready to say Goodbye to chapped lips forever?
What do I need?
1. 1 Tablespoon of white/brown Sugar
2. 1 Teaspoon of Honey
3. 1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil
4. A mixing bowl
6. A clean glass jar/empty lip moisturizer jar
Can I include other ingredients?
Of course. What a scrub needs is an exfoliator (sugar) and a nourishing agent; which could include cocoa powder, shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil, mint, strawberry…
How do I make the scrub?
Put the measured ingredients into the mixing bowl and stir into a paste. Ensure that all the ingredients are merged properly.
How do I apply it?
Gently rub the scrub on both of your lips (using your middle finger/both middle+ring fingers) for at least 5 minutes. Your cue to stop could also be when your jaw starts hurting a lot (I’m not joking. This happens because you’d have to part your lips a bit to get to all the corners especially on your upper lip). Leave on for 10-15 minutes before washing off.
How often can I exfoliate with this?
Exfoliate 2-3 times a week.
How do I rinse off?
It’s best to rinse off with warm water.
Additional Tips
🌸 Ensure your face is clean before exfoliation to avoid transferring dirt from face to lips.
🌸 Always moisturize your lips after exfoliation.
🌸 Moisturizing isn’t an alternative for exfoliation, your lips needs exfoliation regularly.
🌸 Always moisturize your lips before going to bed for healthier lips.
🌸 I’d suggest you use a timer for optimal results.
🌸 Store the exfoliating scrub in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks. Before each use, leave it out to adjust to room temperature before applying on your lips.

You’re welcome. Yes it does. My lips used to be a lot darker than they are in these pictures and I have this scrub to thank. Also, there could be a lot of other things causing discolored lips that you might wanna look into. Could you drop your email so I can forward something to you?
